Iron Ore Milestone: Brazil's Record Exports Defy Vale's Value-Over-Volume Strategy
Despite Vale's commitment to a value-over-volume strategy, emphasizing high-grade iron ore to address global carbon emissions, Brazilian total iron ore exports reached an unprecedented monthly peak of 38.1 million metric tons in December last year. The surge reflected a remarkable increase of 6.8 million metric tons from November, as miners diligently worked to meet their Production Guidelines for the year. Notably, all Brazilian iron ore miners exhibited robust performance, with Vale, CSN, and Samarco exporting 25.2 million metric tons, 3.1 million metric tons, and 1.3 million metric tons, respectively, during the month.
